Title: Data Accounting Technician

Under direct supervision, ability to perform varied and difficult financial and clerical tasks including reproduction and collating of materials, filing and maintaining records. Helps to identify, arrange and maintain accurate and complete School Nutrition Services records and prepare clear and detailed reports. Ensures all documents are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.

Essential Functions:

• Manages use of federal and state funding for DeKalb County Nutrition Program.
• Prepares menu reports in support of School Nutrition Finance and Purchasing.
• Monitors weekly expenses from school cafeterias to ensure invoices are processed.
• Prepares financial expenditure reports for School Nutrition Services leadership team.
• Analyzes invoices and compare to District Menus for discrepancies. Ensures accurate and timely payment of invoices; Analyzes invoices and prepares journal entries for expense accounts; Reconciles software files daily for outstanding invoices.
• Tracks expenditures for future budget projections.
• Prepares and submit journal entries for all food and non-food expenses.
• Assists school nutrition managers with corrections and consolidation of monthly invoice documents.
• Provides expenditure training for school nutrition managers and other school nutrition personnel, as needed.
• Maintains relationships with vendors through the arrangement of appropriate payments.
• Instrumental in the financial assessment of School Nutrition Services and cost control measures to improve departmental viability and stability.
• Assists with a variety of clerical administrative duties and functions, as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 
• Associate’s degree or equivalent completed college coursework from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university is preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) year experience in accounting and general office procedures and computer entry or closely related area required.
